Talking Points:
- A series where the first 40 overs is vastly different to the second 40
- Why are India hesitant to play a fourth fast bowler?
- India’s issue with four tailenders – and Australia’s advantage in the lower order
- The Sam Konstas decision – and the hat tip to Bumrah
- Nathan Lyon’s first-innings v second-innings effectiveness in Australia
- Jasprit Bumrah’s mastery over the new and old ball
- Siraj and Akash Deep: impressive yet unlucky
- Rohit Sharma’s struggles over his last 6 Tests

Hahaha, thanks for addressing the comment on the previous pod, you guys did talk about Bumrah though KD started the discussion about Bumrah by basically saying the greatest thing about Bumrah is that he is nearly as good with length as Cummins but it is okay he is a Cummins fanboy and Cummins is indeed a great bowler.
It is frustrating to see that they are not playing enough bowling because while Australia is the better team they are not that far ahead. I have a feeling that if England keeps their heads next year, they should be winning it because Australia’s batting may fall like India’s. People do not understand that a Shardul can get a seven for in SA while Ashwin who is a greater bowler cannot because of conditions. You need a pacer, even if it is a limited one. This theory that Australian/English journalists often pose that you play your best five and they always say play Ashwin and Jadeja or two spinners or play three seamers in India is bad theory. On a rank turner, a heartley, a santner has a chance of bowling a great spell, similarly, India needed to play four seamers. Now it is done and dusted, I fear this management will do the same in England and will face the same struggles.
Hey guys, long time listener of this fantastic pod! This pod has definitely brought a shift in perspective in terms of how to view this game the correct way. You guys have been far too kind on GG, RGS and co. despite this kind of team selection throughout the series. KD called out England big time after the India series for not bringing enough bowling / attempting to compete. What India has done here is along similar lines in my opinion. What’s even worse is they took enough bowlers to compete but never used them. Just outraged that they have run Bumrah (Akash Deep as well) into the ground coming off his back surgery.
Thank you. We have touched upon GG, RGS etc in the latest pod.
